BMW S 1000 RR is ‘Machine of the Year’

Judges of the MCN Awards were impressed by the S 1000 RR, claiming that it was ‘head and shoulders above the rest.’
BMW’s first ever sportsbike also took the ‘Sports Bike over 751cc’ award, which the judges said was ‘the most respected, the most feared and most capable superbike ever allowed into the hands of the public.’
In its first year, the S 1000 RR has won an impressive amount of titles, including: the British Superbike EVO, the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship, the FIM European Superstock title, the Finnish Superbike Championship, the Spanish Superbike Stock Extreme Championship and the French Superbike Championship.
“That you can get such an incredible and race-winning package, including traction control and anti-wheelie, on a road bike defies belief,” said Marc Potter, MCN’s editor and head of the judging panel.
“The fact that it works so well as a complete package and that BMW has literally left every other sports bike gasping at its first attempt is phenomenal.”
