Motorcycle Safety Improves on British Roads
New figures show that British roads are becoming safer for motorcyclists, as new figures show that the number of road deaths continues to fall. Keep safe on the road by investing in the safest motorcycle helmet available.
Analysis of road traffic statistics has found that although the volume of traffic on British roads rose by 15% in the last year, the casualty rate for motorcyclists fell by 6%.
The three main causes of motorcycle accidents, according to the report were a loss of control, which results in 16% of all accidents; a failure to properly observe, which resulted in 15% of all accidents; and a failure to judge the other person’s path or speed, which accounted for 12%. Slippery roads and inexperienced riders accounted for 7% and 9% of all road accidents respectively.
The motorcycle casualty rate has continued to fall since 1994 and the number of motorcycle fatalities has also dropped by 4% since 2008.
“It is important that we continue to make progress and sustain the reduction in accidents and the casualty rate,” says Steve Kenward, NMCI’s CEO.
“Riders themselves can also take greater personal responsibility for their actions on the road and can get involved in different activities to improve their skills and experience.”
